Muscat – The Food Safety and Quality Center (FSQC) has warned that some peanut butter products of the Jif brand have been contaminated with salmonella bacteria.
In a statement, FSQC said, ‘Some peanut butter products of Jif, bearing the batch numbers from 1274425 to 2140425, have been contaminated with salmonella bacteria.’
‘The center has taken several measures to stop the import of these products. It works with the concerned authorities to withdraw samples from the local markets,’ it stated.
The center urged consumers to avoid using the product.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources announced that the Food Safety Week for 2022 will start on May 29, and will continue until June 4 at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat.
