Muscat – The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning signed 27 usufruct agreements for commercial and industrial projects and fuel stations on Tuesday at Oman Design & Build Week being held in Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
H E Dr Mohammed bin Ali al Mutawa, Undersecretary for Urban Planning in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, signed the contracts for projects in several governorates.
An agreement was also signed for construction of 30 housing units in the wilayats of Suwaiq and Khabourah for those affected by Cyclone Shaheen.
Fuel station agreements
Land usufruct agreements were signed to set up three fuel stations in Dhahirah, four in Dhofar, three in Al Wusta, and two in South Sharqiyah on land exceeding 42,000sqm combined.
Commercial projects
Fifteen usufruct agreements were signed for commercial and industrial plots of land in the governorates of Muscat, South Batinah, Dakhliyah and Al Wusta on an area of more than 71,000sqm.
30 housing units
The 30 housing units in Suwaiq and Khabourah will be built at a cost of RO1mn. The project is part of the ministry’s initiative to build 328 housing units for citizens impacted by Cyclone Shaheen in the North Batinah governorate.
Through its specialised technical teams, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has conducted field surveys and studies of damaged homes belonging to poor families.
The teams also assessed damage to affected houses that were built with unsustainable materials and pose a threat to the lives of residents. The teams conducted technical and financial assessment and made recommendations for rebuilding these.
