Dubai – Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, presided over an official welcome ceremony held for Shabab Oman II at Marina Dubai on Sunday evening to take part in Expo 2020 Dubai.
“We encourage and support Omani youth. Shabab Oman II will continue to convey the message of peace and harmony among nations,” Sayyid Asaad said.
“Youth will enjoy everlasting memories inspired through these voyages via communication with communities,” he added.
Upon arrival of the chief guest at the ceremony site, celebrations began with a joint band of Royal Guard of Oman and Royal Cavalry playing the Royal anthem of Oman and the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates.
The captain of Shabab Oman II then invited Sayyid Asaad and senior officials to board the vessel.
Sayyid Asaad greeted the vessel’s crew and congratulated them for their voyage of the GCC states, as well as for their role in highlighting the noble message of Oman for peace and comradeship through the vessel.
After Sayyid Asaad and the guests were briefed on the vessel’s route and the goals achieved, the chief guest toured the ship. The welcome ceremony for the vessel was organised by the Commissioner General of Oman Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Shabab Oman II anchored in Marina Dubai after visiting several GCC ports as part of its fifth international voyage themed ‘Oman, Renewed Approach’.
