Subhi and Tooqi adjudged best riders of the season

Olympic Equestrian Training Centre's Hamood al Tooqi and Royal Cavalry's Khalid al Subhi were adjudged the joint best riders as the 2016-17.

National Show Jumping Championship season, organised by the Oman Equestrian Federation (OEF), concluded with the Ministry's Shield Championship at the Al Rahba Farms in Barka on Saturday.

Subhi capped a successful season with the victory in the Ministry's Shield and then shared the top honours of the season's best riders with Tooqi.

H E Dr Ahmed al Saeedi, the Minister of Health, was the chief guest at the season-ending championship and gave away the trophies in the presence of Sayyid Mundhir al Busaidi, the OEF chairman, H E Sheikh Saad al Saidi, the Minister of Sports Affairs, and other dignitaries.

Royal Cavalry clinched the overall honours in the team events.

On the closing day of the season, 69 riders from different cavalry units and private stables took part in various categories.

Buthaina al Mamari from the ROP Cavalry was named the best women rider.

Subhi also won the B and C class honours while  Khalid al Shuaibi from the ROP Cavalry was the D class winner.
