This comes days after Muscat Daily had reported of match-fixing allegations in the league by a club chairman.
Jassim al Shukaili, the OFA second vice-president, has been named the chairman of the committee, replacing Hisham al Adwani, the director of Oman Professional League, who was initially handed the responsibility.
Spaking to Muscat Daily on Monday, a senior OFA official said, “The committee will comprise Ahmed al Brashadi, legal advisor, Muhanna Said al Adawi, the national team assistant coach, Salim al Rashdi, a former top referee and Mubarak Babakar Ahmed, a management expert at the OFA.”
The committee will look into the allegations made by different clubs and individuals and also study the video evidences submitted to them .
Though no time frame has been given to the committee for the completion of the report, it is expected to complete by next month. The report will then be submitted to the legal and integrity department for further action before the OFA board takes a final decision.
It may be mentioned that Muscat Daily reported the story of fixing allegations on June 6 in which the chairman of Al Mudhaibi Club, Ahmed al Habsi, had accused five players of two top clubs of teaming up to alter the result of a match. Following his allegations and certain other reports, the OFA swung into action. It set up a probe panel to to find the culprits, if any, to ensure the league is clean and fair.
