Oman Junior & Cadet Open ITTF Premium Junior Circuit: Disappointing day for Oman paddlers

Hosts’ paddlers suffered defeats in all the matches they featured on the opening day of the 2018 Oman Junior & Cadet Open Table Tennis Tournament at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex (SQSC) on Wednesday.

The ITTF Premium Junior Circuit event in Muscat kicked off this year's World Junior Circuit with 108 paddlers from 19 countries taking part.

H H Sayyid Kamil bin Fahd al Said, Assistant Secretary General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, inaugurated the Championship in the presence of Abdullah Bamkhalef, the Oman Table Tennis Committee chief.

The tournament concludes on February 11 and is being played in three main categories – cadet (U14), hopes (U12) and juniors (U17).

A total of 43 players are in cadet category while juniors have 36 in fray and hopes  features 29 paddlers.

Cadet girls' team: Greece-Egypt 3 Jordan-Lebanon-Egypt 0, China 3 India-A 0, China 3 Jordan 0, India-B 3 Greece-Egypt 1.

Junior boys' team: Iran-A 3 Oman-B 0, China 3 Iran-B 0, Jordan 3 Lebanon-Saudi Arabia 0, Thailand-Egypt 3 Oman-A 0, Qatar-B 3 Iran-A 1, China 3 Sweden 1, Jordan 3 Egypt 1, Thailand-Egypt 3 Qatar-A 2.
