Twelve teams took part in the tournament organised by Stadium brothers in association with United Thalessery sports club and was held for two weekend. In the final Mohammed Nihal of Nianans struck the first goal in the fifth minute of the game and he increased the lead in the tenth minute with a long range stunner. Naufal completed the tally by scoring the third goal as Nainans beat the host team Stadium brothers 3-0 in an exciting match. The semi finals matches saw Nainans beat red star in the penalty shoot out 3-2 and Stadium brothers beat Habib Salam 2-0.
Tahir Zaman, Oman National hockey team coach and a key member of Pakistan hockey team when they won the world cup in 1994, was the Chief guest for the function and he gave away the prizes. A large number of families attended the event and cheered their favorite teams. There was spot quiz for the spectators and the electrifying commentary of noted sports commentator Salih Thacher gave the tournament a festival look. The organizers introduced the finalist to the Chief guest Tahir Zaman before the start of the finals. The organizers paid tribute to Hasheel, a sports enthusiast from Tellicherry, who died recently in Muscat by observing one minute silence as respect to departed soul. Mohammed Nihal of Nainans won the award for best player of the tournament, top scorer and man of the match in the finals, while Irshad of Al Nahla Ponmanichi SC won the best goal keeper award. Top emerging player award was presented to Hadi Hashir. Another interesting aspect of the tournament was an exhibition match played between the parents and Children team in which the latter thrashed the former by 3-0 much to the surprise of the crowd. Asim Lijas (ISM), Sinan (ISD) and Feril of Indian School Al Seeb scored for the children team. Earlier in the quater final match, Nainans beat QFC 6-5 in the penalty, Habib Salam beat Al Nahla 1-0, Red star beat UTSv 3-2 in penalty and Stadium brother beat La Masia 5-1. The tournament was sponsored Al Rehwan Contracting, Renna Mobile, Cochin Gold, Foodlands restaurant, Pocari sweets and Masafi water. Rizin, of Stadium brothers said " The tournament was played in great spirit as world cup is about to kick off within a few days. It was football fever everywhere in the ground. We thank all the teams and the sponsors for support they had extended to this tournament". Jawis Ahamad of UTSC presented a memento to the Chief guest Tahir Zaman as a token of gesture.
