The draw of the championship was organised by the Oman Hockey Association (OHA) on Monday under the auspices of H H Sayyid Fahr bin Fatik al Said in the presence of Talib al Wahaibi, the OHA chief, OHA board members and club officials.
The Seeb-Ahli-Sidab clash will be preceded by the opening match between last year's runner-up Bausher and Sohar on the same day. Al Salam is the fifth team in Muscat region.
Seeb captured a record 11th title last year with a 3-2 win over Bausher to break Ahli-Sidab’s record of ten titles.
A total of nine teams will vie for the coveted title, regarded as the symbol of hockey supremacy in the sultanate.
The Dhofar region will feature four teams – former winners Al Nasr, Dhofar, Salalah and Al Ittihad – and will also kick-start on November 16. Ittihad meets Dhofar and Al Nasr takes on Salalah on the opening day.
A double-league format will be played in Dhofar with the top two teams advancing directly to the second round along with top three teams from Muscat region.
The sixth and final slot for the second round will be finalised after a playoff between the fourth-placed team (Muscat region) and the third-placed team (Dhofar region).
The six teams will then be divided into two pools with the top two from each pool making it to the two-legged semifinals on December 11 and 13. The final, which is yet to be decided, is likely to be held between December 17-19.
