Last year's runner-up Sohar is set to provide nine-time champions Fanja a litmus test as the two sides were drawn against each other in the two-leg quarterfinals of the 2018-19 His Majesty's Cup Football Championship.

The last-eight draw of the sultanate's most prestigious championship was held on Wednesday at the Oman Football Association (OFA) headquarters under the auspices of Sheikh Salim al Wahaibi, the OFA chairman.

In another exciting match-up giant-killer Seeb takes on Sur. Both the teams  have won the trophy three times each.

Seeb has been the surprise package in this tournament so far, having knocked out two Salalah-based heavyweights, eight-time winners Dhofar and defending champion Al Nasr on its way to the quarterfinals. Four-time champions Al Arouba will take on Majees while the other quarterfinal pits Al Musannah against Mirbat, the only team left in fray from the Dhofar region.

With the champions of the last three editions – Al Nasr, Al Suwaiq and Saham – knocked out, Arouba is the last winner among the eight teams, The Sharqiyah giant won the 2014-15 title, a year after Fanja had won its record ninth crown in 2014.

The first-leg will be held on November 6 while the return-leg will be played on December 4.
