The participation of Wadha and Khatri will increase the number of Omani athletes in Rio to three.
Top sprinter Barakat al Harthy has already qualified for Rio.
Though Wadha and Khatri failed to qualify through any of the tournaments unlike Barakat, the duo will now be able to represent the sultanate after being handed Rio 2016 Tripartite Commission Invitations Places (also known as wild card) by the IOC on the request from the Oman Olympic Committee.
Khatri has been a regular member of the national team and participated in many world championships over the past three years.
Khatri has had some good results at the worlds in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions and 10m air rifle. Wadha has also been a regular member of the national team and has featured in the World Cups in the women's 10m air pistol and 25m pistol events.
Apart from shooting, the OOC is also hopeful of getting wild card for Fatma al Nabhani (tennis), Sultan al Touqi (show jumping) and Ahmed al Marjabi (athletics).
