The Research Council organises symposium on documenting cultural heritage in Oman

The Omani Cultural Heritage Research Programme of The Research Council (TRC), in collaboration with the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science (ONCECS) organised a national seminar on documenting cultural heritage. The seminar was organised at the Lectures Hall of the National Museum on Wednesday. It was titled ‘Memory of the world is a case study’.

Nasser al Ismaili, coordinator of the Strategic Cultural Heritage Programme at TRC, delivered the keynote address. He was quoted in a press release as saying, “The management of the Cultural Heritage Programme prepared a plan of 20 activities that are being implemented this year. They aim to spread awareness among the public in the sultanate about the importance of the Omani cultural heritage.”

Dr Humaid bin Saif al Noufali from ONCECS, spoke about the concept of documenting cultural heritage and its role in sustainable development. He stressed on the attention given by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization that allocates global archive for documenting cultural heritage from all over the world.

The Omani Cultural Heritage Research Programme is part of TRC’s Strategic Research Grants Programme in the Culture, Basic and Social Sciences sector.
