The Eid habta markets usually come up on the 24th day of Ramadan and continue till the 29th day. Several such markets have come up in the wilayats of Wadi Bani Khalid and Ibra in North Sharqiyah, the wilayat of Bausher in Muscat, Fanja in the wilayat of Bidbid in Dakhliyah.
Four such markets came up across Wadi Bani Khalid in the village of Khalidiya, Omq, Souq al Masaliha and Al Hawariya and continued till the the 27th day of Ramadan. Al Thabti village in Ibra started with the first of the three habta markets in the wilayat, followed by Al Yahmadi on the 25th day of Ramadan and Al Safala on the 26th day of Ramadan.
The markets in the wilayat of Al Hamra and Nafaa in the wilayat of Bidbid came up on the 25th day of Ramadan.
On the 26th day of Ramadan, the habta markets were held in the wilayats of Rustaq, Samail (Suroor), Sur, Wadi al Ma’awel, Bidiyah, Khabourah, and Al Mintarab in Bidiyah.
On the 27th day of Ramadan, the habta markets were held in the wilayats of Jalaan Bani Bu Ali, Suwaiq, Bahla, Barka, Jalaan Bani Bu Hassan, Nakhal, Seeb, and the village of Al Wasel in the wilayat of Al Qabel. On the 28th day of Ramadan, the habta markets will be held in the wilayats of Al Kamil W’Al Wafi and Al Qabel.
Many people flock to these markets to buy livestock through auctions. Parents too visit these markets with their children to buy toys, clothes in addition to foodstuff to prepare traditional Omani dishes and barbecue items.
