MoT added, “There are three prizes for competitors. The winner will get RO6,000, the first runner-up RO4,000 and the second runner-up RO2,000. The Ministry of Tourism will have the ownership of all winning ideas.”
The ministry stated through the competition it is looking for architectural ideas. These ideas can be shared by architects, companies and individuals.
The sultanate needs a tourist guide that reflects Oman’s diverse culture, creates activities and attracts tourists, the ministry stated.
“The wilayat of Sur represents a historical value for the sultanate because it is a commercial gateway linking the sultanate and the eastern and western countries,” said MoT. The ministry has set some conditions for competitors and stated that the design should express the idea of an iconic tourism project.
The design should also include commercial places such as restaurants, cafes and entertainment areas.
Competitors should also submit an economic feasibility study for the project. The entries should be submitted to the ministry before 1pm by December 6.
