Ithraa chairman awarded Japanese Order in Tokyo

Dr Salem bin Nasser al Ismaily, chairman, Ithraa received the Order of the Rising Sun, Golden and Silver Star at an award ceremony held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Tuesday. 

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe personally presented the award and certificate to Dr Ismaily, who was then received by Emperor Akihito, stated a press release. Dr Ismaily said, “I would like to thank Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for this prestigious award. It is my privilege and profound honour to accept the Order of the Rising Sun, Golden and Silver Star.”

He added, “I wish Japan and its people continued peace and prosperity and look forward to the continuation of our longstanding and warm relationship.” Dr Ismaily also thanked ambassadors H E Mitsugu Saito and H E Khalid Hashil al Muslahi for their outstanding contribution to the success of the Tokyo visit.

The Order of the Rising Sun was first introduced in 1875. It is the first ever order to be conferred by the Government of Japan. It is one of the prestigious Japanese decorations granted to non-Japanese nationals since 1981.
