Al Hayat Hospital gets new head of gastroenterology

Dr Said Ahmed Salim al Busafi joined Al Hayat International Hospital as a visiting consultant last month. He is a full-time senior consultant in gastroenterology, hepatology and liver transplantation in Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) since 2012.

He received his MD from SQU in 2002. He completed his postgraduate residency training in internal medicine and gastroenterology, followed by subspecialty fellowship in general and transplant hepatology in McGill University, Montreal, Canada in 2012.

He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) since 2009.

Dr Busafi specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, Helicobacter pylori infection, small and large bowel diseases, pancreatic diseases, cancer of the colon, all kinds of acute and chronic liver diseases, viral hepatitis, fatty liver diseases and liver cirrhosis.

He is an expert in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. He has many research publications to his credit. To consult him, call 22004000.

Dr Busafi will be taking over as head of department of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy at Al Hayat International Hospital.

Dr Mathew Raphael who has been heading the department of Gastroenterology since 20 years will be leaving Oman and will visit once a month for consultations.
