Muscat -

Telecom services provider Omantel captured the best business practices award at the second edition of the Asian Business Leadership Forum (ABLF) series which culminated with the awards ceremony.

According to a press release, the award comes in recognition of the efforts made by Omantel to improve its business and apply internationally recognised business practices. Commenting on the award, Dr Amer bin Awadh al Rawas, CEO of Omantel, said, “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award which showcases that the company efforts are recognised not just at the local and regional levels but also at the international level.”

'Winning this award, which is another milestone for the company, mirrors the success of the company strategy and programmes to develop its business especially after the integration of the fixed-line and mobile operations under one unified operating model and later into one legal entity,” he added.

The award comes in recognition of Omantel's success in applying best business practices and maintaining its leadership position in the market despite the entry of new operators to the market. Omantel has been the fastest growing mobile operator in market that has more than a 58 per cent share of this market.

This achievement has landed Omantel many local, regional and international awards, the release added. The ABLF annual event honours and celebrates business achievers from across the three key regions of Asia - the Gulf, India and South-East Asia - and pays tributes to exemplary leaders who have stood strong in the face of the economic downturn and played a significant role in the Asia growth story.

The ABLF awards grand jury consisted of a high-profile group of industry experts, economic commentators and international leaders from government, business, academics, advisory and other professional disciplines.
