Oman’s gas consumption rises 11%

Natural gas consumption in Oman increased 10.8 per cent in the first seven months of 2018 to 26,508mn cubic meters compared to 23,920mn cubic meters in the same period of 2017, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Volumes of gas used in industrial projects rose 14.6 per cent to 15,559mn cubic meters while consumption by power generation projects increased 0.6 per cent to 4,833mn cubic meters.

Natural gas used in oil fields stood at 5,965mn cubic meters this year, 16.3 per cent higher compared to 5,130mn cubic meters used during the first seven months of 2017.

During the first seven months of 2018, total supply of natural gas (domestic production and imports) stood at 26,508mn cubic meters, the NCSI statistics showed.
