Oman ranks 71st in ease of doing business

Muscat -

Oman ranked fourth in the Arab world in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business 2018 ranking. The sultanate came at 71st place globally.

New Zealand topped this year’s ranking, followed by Singapore, Denmark and South Korea. The World Bank’s Doing Business 2018 report evaluated 190 economies between June 2016 and June 2017.

Oman came first in the Arab world in ‘starting business’ sub-index, which is one of the most important indicators focused on by the Doing Business report.

Oman made a significant improvement in ‘trading across borders’ sub-index, ranking 72nd globally. According to the report, Oman made exporting and importing easier by enhancing its online single window system for exports and imports, reducing the time required for documentary compliance.
