Oman inflation rises to 0.5% in February

Oman’s annual inflation in February increased to 0.49 per cent compared with the same month of the previous year, according to the consumer price index data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The inflation rate, however, decreased 0.05 per cent compared to January 2018 inflation.

The rise in February inflation was mainly due to growth in prices of transport and education categories. Transport cost rose 2.23 per cent in February 2018 compared to the same month a year ago, while eduction group recorded a 4.9 per cent rise in price index. Prices of food stuff and non-alcoholic beverages fell 0.34 per cent in February on year-on-year basis.
