BankDhofar gets Islamic banking licence

Muscat -

BankDhofar announced that it has obtained an Islamic banking window licence from the Central Bank of Oman (CBO).

In a filing to the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) on Thursday, BankDhofar said its 'Maisarah' Islamic banking window will start offering services at its first two branches in Azaiba in Muscat and Salalah al Wadi in Dhofar.

“It is intended that Islamic banking window 'Maisarah' will be open for public from March 20, 2013,” the bank said in its disclosure.

“Maisarah will offer pure, innovative, regulated Islamic banking products and services by highly experienced and trained segregated staff using dedicated Sharia-compliant core-banking systems with separate books of accounts,” the BankDhofar disclosure to MSM added.
