Muscat – Oman has won the Regional Leadership Award presented by Universal Postal Union (UPU) in recognition of the sultanate’s progress in the 2025 Integrated Postal Development Index (2IPD).

The 2025 2IPD places Oman first in the Arab world and in the eighth tier globally, with tenth being the highest. The award was presented during the 28th UPU Congress being held in Dubai from September 8 to 19.

The achievement reflects Oman’s readiness to adopt digital transformation and strengthen its position in logistics and e-commerce. The 2IPD ranks countries across four pillars – reliability, access, relevance and resilience – using big data, official statistics and global surveys, giving the results international credibility.

Officials said the recognition highlights Oman’s ability to convert operational and digital improvements into measurable outcomes. It is the result of coordinated efforts led by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in line with Oman Vision 2040. The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority contributed by fostering a fair and sustainable competitive environment, while Oman Post expanded its network and services to keep pace with digital and logistics trends.

The award also underlines the effectiveness of national strategies in enhancing postal and logistics efficiency, strengthening digital infrastructure, supporting economic growth and promoting e-commerce, ministry stated.
