Oman reaffirms support for progress of GCC march

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, led Oman’s delegation at the 42nd session of the GCC Supreme Council, in Riyadh on Tuesday.

On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Saudi Arabia, chaired the meeting of the session.

In a statement upon his arrival, Sayyid Fahd said he was honoured to convey the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty the Sultan to his brethren, the GCC leaders.

“Since its foundation, the GCC has accomplished much in different fields. This reflects the member states’ conviction in the importance of cooperation and collaboration to meet the aspirations of the GCC peoples.

“Developments in the regional and international arenas have had repercussions on the region’s countries. This requires the member states to exert more efforts and coordinate their stands to address the ensuing challenges and implications, so that they can focus on domestic development in a climate of security and stability,” he said.

Sayyid Fahd added that Oman reaffirms its constant support for the advancement of the GCC march. “Oman also expresses its appreciation for the efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia.”

He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Prince Mohammed for the great role and effort he is exerting in the interest of the GCC countries.

Earlier in the evening, Prince Mohammad received Sayyid Fahd upon his arrival at King Khalid International Airport.

Sayyid Fahd is accompanied by an official delegation comprising Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy, Sayyid Faisal bin Turki al Said, Ambassador of Oman to Saudi Arabia, and others.
