Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs of Egypt, at Al Barakah Palace on Monday.

The minister conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of Egypt, to His Majesty the Sultan, wishing him continued health and wellbeing and the Omani people further progress and prosperity.

His Majesty asked the guest to convey his greetings and best wishes to President El Sisi for good health and happiness, and to the Egyptian people for continued development and prosperity.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest regional developments in light of the ongoing escalation of military operations and the resulting threats to national interests and violations of sovereignty.

They underscored the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to contain tensions, de-escalate the situation and work towards ending the current escalation in order to enhance security and stability both regionally and globally.

The visiting minister also expressed Egypt’s appreciation of Oman’s balanced and wise approach under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan in dealing with regional challenges, as well as its mediation efforts aimed at sparing the region the consequences of destructive conflicts.

The meeting was attended by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman, and Yasser Mohamed Ahmed Shaaban, Ambassador of Egypt to Oman.
