16 Mar 2026 Endowment foundation for Prophet’s Biography Museum launched By OUR CORRESPONDENT

MuscatThe Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs on Monday celebrated the launch of the Endowment Foundation for the Museum of the Prophet’s Biography and unveiled the museum’s official logo during a ceremony held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event was held under the patronage of H E Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and attended by H E Dr Mohammed bin Said Al Maamari, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, along with a number of officials, scholars and guests.

The ceremony featured presentations on the project as well as a panel discussion titled ‘The Museum of the Prophet’s Biography: Aspirations and Visions’.

The newly-established foundation aims to develop and oversee a comprehensive scientific and cultural museum dedicated to presenting the life, values and noble character of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The initiative seeks to highlight the tolerant and universal message of Islam through modern educational, research and interactive methods while showcasing the civilisational and humanistic dimensions of the Prophet’s biography.

The foundation will also support academic research in the fields of the Prophet’s biography and Islamic history, and foster cultural and endowment partnerships within and beyond Oman. In addition, it will manage and invest endowment funds to preserve their assets and ensure sustainable financing for the museum and its programmes.

The museum will be located in the wilayat of Samail and is expected to be operational within three years of the foundation’s establishment. The site was selected for its historical significance, reflecting the early embrace of Islam by Omanis and the wilayat’s strong cultural and religious symbolism in Omani history.

The museum’s logo carries historical symbolism derived from an authentic prophetic text. It begins with the phrase ‘From Muhammad, the Messenger of God’, the opening line of the historic letter sent by the Prophet to the people of Oman inviting them to Islam with wisdom and gentleness. Omanis responded with understanding and insight, making Oman among the first lands to embrace Islam peacefully.

The logo commemorates this defining moment in the relationship between the Prophet’s message and Oman, symbolising the arrival of the prophetic call to this land and reflecting the spirit of dialogue and civilisational exchange established by the Prophet with nations and peoples.

Through this symbolism, the logo forms a bridge between the original sources of the Prophet’s biography and its enduring presence in the Omani consciousness. The museum seeks to present the Prophet’s life as a living message inspired by the values of mercy, justice, wisdom and coexistence that shaped Islamic civilisation.
