Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has extended its Eid Al Fitr greetings to citizens and residents, urging everyone to observe safety precautions and act responsibly during the holiday, a period that typically witnesses increased shopping activity and heavier traffic across the sultanate.
In a statement, the ROP called on motorists to adhere strictly to traffic rules and drive cautiously, particularly during the Eid holiday when road movement intensifies. The police stressed the importance of maintaining road discipline to ensure the safety of all road users and to prevent accidents.
Authorities also warned against irresponsible behaviours that may endanger others or disturb public order, including street racing, reckless driving, vehicle drifting, and show-off driving. The ROP further highlighted the dangers of installing non-compliant exhaust systems that create excessive noise and inconvenience the public.

The police cautioned against the use of fireworks or the firing of live ammunition during celebrations, emphasising the serious risks such practices pose to public safety and security. Parents were urged to closely supervise their children and advise them against purchasing or using fireworks.
The ROP also encouraged families to ensure that children engage in recreational activities such as riding bicycles or motorcycles only in safe and designated areas, away from public roads. Parents and guardians were advised to remain vigilant while children are playing outdoors, particularly in tourist areas or near swimming pools.

As many families travel or spend extended periods outside their homes during the holiday, the police urged the public to secure their residences properly before leaving and to take advantage of modern monitoring devices. The ROP emphasised that cooperation from the public will help ensure a safe and enjoyable Eid for everyone.
