Muscat – Royal Oman Police (ROP) has launched a vital public awareness urging motorbikes to adhere strictly to safety regulations and the Sultanate’s road traffic laws. The campaign highlights essential precautions and underscores the serious hazards associated with reckless driving.
For rider safety, the ROP strongly advises all riders to prioritise protective measures. This includes the mandatory wearing of a head helmet and appropriate safety clothing. Furthermore, riders must maintain extreme vigilance by exercising caution at intersections, paying close attention to other vehicles, and ensuring the motorbike’s lights are functioning correctly.
The ROP also issued a clear warning against several dangerous and illegal practices that jeopardise the safety of both the rider and other road users. Prohibited acts include driving without a valid licence, speeding and reckless overtaking, performing stunts (displaying with the bike), using a mobile phone while driving, and operating a motorbike without a valid number plate. The ROP emphasise that adherence to these guidelines is crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of the entire community.
