Muscat – The Office of the Governor of Muscat has announced the development of the largest fully serviced camping and glamping site in Oman, Hawiyat Najm Park – also known as Bimmah Sinkhole – in Quriyat.
The project, described as the first of its kind in the sultanate and the wider region, will span an area of 500,000sqm. It aims to promote domestic tourism by combining recreation, relaxation, and the natural beauty of the area’s distinctive landscape.

The office, represented by Muscat Municipality, has awarded the tender for the Hawiyat Najm Development Project, which will feature an integrated glamping hub, landscaped green areas, outdoor activity zones, walking and cycling paths, and public amenities for visitors.
Facilities will include a dedicated area for glamping units and caravans with a total capacity of 144 visitors per day. The project will also feature a family park, children’s play zones, and various recreational activities.
Other features include smart information signs highlighting the site’s natural and cultural significance, an exhibition hall showcasing products made by local families, and modern infrastructure such as water recycling and desalination systems, as well as a waste recycling facility.

The Municipality, in January, had announced a competition inviting creative individuals to design a visual identity for Hawiyat Najm Park. The winning design will be adopted as the official logo and visual identity of the park. In recognition of their creativity, the winner will receive a cash prize of RO500.
