Muscat – The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) in Muscat has ordered the temporary closure of a vehicle repair business following a series of consumer complaints and the establishment’s failure to comply with legal obligations.
The business came under scrutiny after repeated reports from consumers claiming that services were not delivered within the agreed timeframe and that contractual conditions were not fulfilled. Despite numerous opportunities to resolve the issues, the company failed to cooperate with the CPA and showed a lack of transparency and credibility in addressing the complaints.
According to the CPA, the violations constitute a breach of Article (23) of the Consumer Protection Law, which states that: “The supplier is obligated to provide the service to the consumer in the correct manner, in line with its nature, and to guarantee the service it provides within a timeframe that is appropriate to its nature. If the supplier fails to do so, they must refund the value of the service or compensate for any deficiencies or re-perform the service correctly, in accordance with the regulations.”
Due to the establishment’s continued non-compliance and unwillingness to engage with the authority, legal action was initiated. The CPA referred the case to the Public Prosecution, which subsequently issued a judicial order for the temporary closure of the business. The company’s operations will remain suspended until all pending legal matters are resolved.
