8 May 2025 By OUR CORRESPONDENT

The Arab League has praised the Sultanate of Oman for its diplomatic efforts and mediation that helped secure a ceasefire agreement in Yemen, alongside contributions from the United States.

In a statement issued by its General Secretariat, the Arab League expressed hope that the agreement would ease the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, curb the ongoing military escalation, and bolster broader diplomatic efforts aimed at halting Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and resolving other pressing regional challenges.

The statement also underscored the importance of restoring maritime security in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, and ensuring the safe and uninterrupted flow of international commercial shipping through vital regional waterways.

Reaffirming its commitment to previous resolutions, the Arab League reiterated its support for Yemen’s internationally recognised government and its efforts to safeguard the country’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
