Sultanate urges accountability for use of starvation and displacement as weapons of war
New York City, US – The Sultanate of Oman has issued a strong condemnation of the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, warning of the dire humanitarian consequences stemming from the continued use of starvation and forced displacement as weapons of war.
Speaking during the United Nations Security Council session on ‘The Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Issue’, Oman stressed the urgent need for accountability and an end to impunity for those committing such grave violations of international humanitarian law.
Oman’s representative highlighted the devastating impact of the blockade on civilians and called on the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities in protecting the Palestinian people. The statement reiterated the Sultanate’s long-standing support for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, in line with international legitimacy and the two-state framework.
Oman also emphasised the importance of immediate humanitarian access to Gaza and the need to prevent further escalation, urging all parties to prioritise the protection of human life and dignity.
