Muscat – Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) has announced reduced electricity bills for residential users with basic accounts during the peak summer months from May to the end of August 2025. Unit rates for electricity consumption, however, will remain unchanged for the rest of year.

Discounts will vary based on consumption. In May, households using between zero and 4,000KWh will receive a 15% discount. Those consuming between 4,001 and 6,000KWh will get 10%, while usage above 6,001KWh will be eligible for a 5% reduction.

The discounts will increase in June, July and August to 20%, 15% and 10% respectively across the above consumption brackets.

APSR has instructed licensed electricity providers not to disconnect services for basic account holders during the summer period. It also directed them to offer the option of bill payments in instalments in line with approved regulatory framework.
