The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially unveiled its 2025 inductees, with legendary acts Bad Company, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, The White Stripes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, and Soundgarden making the cut.
Announced by Ryan Seacrest during Sunday’s episode of American Idol—marking the second consecutive year the show has revealed the Rock Hall class—the ceremony will take place on 8th November at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The event will be streamed live on Disney+ that evening, with a special airing on ABC at a later date.
Alongside the performers, Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will be honoured with the Musical Influence Award, while the Musical Excellence Award will be presented to Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, and Carol Kaye. Lenny Waronker, former president of Warner Records, will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, praised the inductees, stating, “Each of these inductees created their own sound and attitude that had a profound impact on culture and helped to change the course of Rock & Roll forever.”
This year’s list of nominees who did not make the cut includes The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Maná, Oasis, and Phish. Notably, Phish won the fan vote for the second year running, but still failed to secure induction.
Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame occurs 25 years after an artist’s first commercial release. The 2025 class includes several first-time nominees, including Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, and OutKast. Cocker’s induction comes more than a decade after his death in 2014, while Soundgarden’s induction comes after their third nomination, following the tragic death of lead singer Chris Cornell in 2017.
The upcoming ceremony marks the fourth time the event will be held in Los Angeles, following previous ceremonies in 1983, 1993, and 2022.
