The popular tourist attraction was closed over the weekend for five months for an extensive renovation project.

Dubai, UAE – Restaurants and food outlets with terraces overlooking the iconic Dubai Fountain are set to receive a four-month rent waiver, as the popular tourist attraction closes for a major renovation.

Emaar Malls Management (LLC) confirmed that the rent relief will apply to around 50 Food & Beverage (F&B) outlets at Dubai Mall and Souk al Bahar. The waiver will cover the months of June to September 2025, helping affected businesses navigate the drop in footfall typically drawn by the fountain’s nightly performances.

The Dubai Fountain, one of the most visited landmarks in the emirate, was officially closed over the weekend for an extensive five-month upgrade. Crowds gathered to witness its final show on April 19, ahead of the temporary closure.

“For years, the Dubai Fountain and the surrounding lake have been instrumental in driving the success of these destinations,” said Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar. “This rent support is a testament to our long-term commitment to our tenants and ensuring they remain resilient during this transitional period.”

Digital enhancements to maintain footfall

In addition to the rent relief, Emaar will install 400 metres of state-of-the-art digital screens along the promenade. These screens are designed to create an engaging and interactive visitor experience, ensuring the area remains vibrant and attractive despite the absence of the fountain shows.

The terraces facing the lake and fountain have long offered diners unmatched views and a lively atmosphere. While the fountain undergoes upgrades, Emaar’s initiatives aim to preserve the area’s appeal and support its tenants.
