Muscat – Muscat Municipality has announced tenders for construction of four new public parks in residential neighbourhoods of the capital as part of its broader strategy to expand green infrastructure and enhance quality of life.

A residential park in Quriyat, planned over an area of 7,698sqm, is among the key projects. The park is intended to provide dedicated space for outdoor activities and leisure for residents in the area.

The municipality’s tender for a park in Wadi Kabir covers an area exceeding 2,000sqm. The facility will include a children’s play area, walking track and shaded seating spaces.

A proposed park in Khuris al Haboos in Seeb will be of over 10,000sqm and serve both residents and visitors with updated recreational amenities.

A proposed park in South Mabelah is part of the municipality’s efforts to ensure more accessible green spaces in densely populated neighbourhoods.

According to Muscat Municipality, ‘All four parks will include sports walkways, children’s play zones, fitness equipment and seating areas. These will also feature landscaped areas, improved lighting, café, public restrooms, prayer hall and car parks.’

The projects align with the city’s urban planning strategy to utilise smaller land parcels for eco-friendly community spaces. The initiative also aims to encourage physical activity, improve social engagement and support overall wellbeing.

‘These parks are part of Muscat’s efforts to build inclusive recreational areas that promote a healthier lifestyle and contribute to reducing urban stress,’ the municipality stated.
