Salalah – Environment Authority (EA), in collaboration with the Royal Oman Police, recently conducted an intensive inspection campaign in the Ain Arzat area of Salalah targeting illegal logging and the unlicensed sale of firewood.

During the campaign, officials seized approximately eight tonnes of unlicensed firewood from 23 sites engaged in illegal activities. The operation is part of a broader initiative aimed at preserving Oman’s plant resources and curbing environmentally destructive logging practices.

EA reported multiple violations, including the use of mechanical saws, chemical injections, and the illegal uprooting of trees. In a statement, the authority underscored the importance of conserving natural resources and promoting environmental sustainability. ‘Protecting the environment is a shared responsibility between individuals and institutions,’ the EA affirmed.
