Muscat – Muscat is hosting the 7th Oman International Food Safety and Quality Conference and Exhibition bringing together 500 specialists from 32 countries to discuss challenges and innovations in food safety.
The three-day event, which opened on Monday at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, will feature 26 scientific papers addressing critical issues related to food quality and regulation.
The opening was held under the patronage of H H Sayyid Dr Kamil Fahad al Said, Secretary-General of Council of Ministers, and attended by H E Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, along with diplomats and officials from across the region.
Dr Hussein al Masrouri, Director General of Food Sa- fety and Quality Centre at Ministry of Agriculture, Fis-heries and Water Resour-ces, said Oman is comm- itted to enhancing its food safety framework as part of broader public health efforts.
“Oman aims to foster a culture grounded in awareness and scientific knowledge,” he said. “By leveraging resources and technological advancements in the food sector, we strive to build a society that is informed, healthy and engaged with food safety issues.” The ministry is working with government bodies and private sector stakeholders to build an integrated and sustainable food safety system.
