Expat workers arrested for tampering with expired goods in Barka

Barka – The Consumer Protection Department, in collaboration with the Food Safety and Quality Centre, has uncovered a case of expatriate workers illegally tampering with the labelling of expired goods.

In a recent operation, authorities discovered the workers were repackaging expired products with new labels that falsely displayed altered production and expiration dates. This deceptive practice was intended to mislead consumers into purchasing goods that no longer met safety or quality standards.

The goods were promptly seized by the Consumer Protection Authority, and investigations into the matter are ongoing. The authorities have assured the public that measures are in place to ensure such fraudulent activities are swiftly dealt with to protect consumer safety and uphold market integrity.
