Israel resumes airstrikes on Gaza as ceasefire collapses, hundreds killed

18 Mar 2025 By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Gaza, Palestine – Israel has launched a series of airstrikes on Gaza, marking the deadliest escalation since the January 19 ceasefire, with the death toll surpassing 300, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Among those killed are senior Hamas officials, as well as a significant number of women and children.

The Israeli government has vowed to intensify military operations against Hamas, citing the group’s refusal to release hostages. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed that Israel would act with “increasing military strength.” Hamas, however, has accused Israel of violating the truce agreement.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels have claimed a third attack on a US aircraft carrier group in the Red Sea within two days. The US has responded with retaliatory strikes and warned of further action if the attacks continue.

With tensions surging across the region, Israeli authorities have cancelled school in towns near Gaza, and reports suggest that ground incursions may soon follow the renewed air assault.
