Muscat – The 12th edition of Omani Lawyers Association’s Fak Kurbah initiative, aimed at securing the release of individuals imprisoned due to financial insolvency, has helped free 511 people across the sultanate since its launch at the beginning of Ramadan. The initiative has restored hope to families and provided beneficiaries with a fresh start.

The released individuals are from various governorates, with North Batinah recording the highest number at 169, followed by South Batinah (85), Dakhliyah (73) and South Sharqiyah (57). Additionally, 49 cases are from Dhahirah, 29 from Muscat, 18 from North Sharqiyah, 14 from Al Wusta and three from Buraimi.

Dr Hamad bin Hamdan al Rubaie, Chairman of Omani Lawyers Association, gave credit for the effort to solidarity of the Omani community. “This would not have been possible without the generosity of individuals and institutions who contributed to the initiative,” he said, while urging continued support.

Since its inception in 2012, Fak Kurbah has facilitated the release of over 7,110 prisoners. Donations can be made through the official website (www.fakkrba.om), designated bank accounts or the Thawani app.
