New York, US – Oman, represented by the Ministry of Social Development, is participating in the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the UN, reviewing 30 years of the Beijing Declaration.
Leading the delegation, Minister Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to gender equality, citing key achievements: 97.7% female education enrolment, 34.9% workforce participation, and a rise in women-led SMEs to 33%.
Oman co-hosted a side event on women’s innovation, concluding Muscat as the Capital of Arab Women 2024. The Sultanate also showcased legal reforms, research growth, and rising female leadership across sectors.
