Nakhal – The Office of the Governor of South Batinah convened a meeting of the Wakan Village Development Project Committee on Sunday to discuss key initiatives for the village’s growth.
According to a statement from the Governor’s Office, the meeting, held in Wadi Mistal in the wilayat of Nakhal, was chaired by Masoud bin Saeed al Hashemi, Governor of South Batinah, in the presence of Wali of Nakhal, along with general managers from various governmental and private entities involved in the village’s development.
Discussions focused on strategic plans to develop Wakan Village, including projects related to road infrastructure, water supply, tourism initiatives such as guest houses and the development of mountain trails.
Wakan Village, located in the wilayat of Nakhal, is a sought-after destination during the winter months, drawing thousands of domestic and international visitors. Its cool climate, comparable to that of Jabal Akhdar, and stunning natural beauty make it a popular choice for tourists.
The meeting aligns with the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to develop Wakan Village as a premier tourist destination.
With over 36,759 visitors recorded in 2024, the new infrastructure is expected to elevate Wakan’s status as a major landmark in Oman’s tourism landscape.
