Muscat – The Omani-Iranian Joint Business Council held a meeting on Wednesday via video conference to discuss key initiatives aimed at bolstering economic cooperation between the sultanate and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The meeting was chaired by Mohammed bin Abdul Hussein Baqer from the Omani side and Jamal Razeqi from the Iranian side.

Discussions centred on the development of a smart electronic platform, set to be launched in the near future, which aims to streamline commercial transactions and introduce innovative solutions to expedite business procedures between the two nations.

Additionally, the council reviewed plans to allocate designated spaces in Oman for Iranian companies specialising in innovation and knowledge-based industries. This initiative seeks to foster collaboration in cutting-edge sectors and drive economic growth.

The meeting also explored opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in the pharmaceutical, health, and food industries.

Furthermore, the possibility of establishing a direct shipping line between Oman and Iran was discussed to facilitate trade and strengthen logistical connections.

Baqer said that the proposals presented during the meeting will be thoroughly examined and followed up to ensure swift implementation.

“We are committed to strengthening economic and commercial ties between Oman and Iran across various sectors. Our goal is to achieve tangible outcomes that support innovation and economic growth for both countries,” he stated.

The Omani-Iranian Joint Business Council continues its efforts to create new avenues for cooperation and enhance trade relations, reinforcing the long-standing partnership between the two nations.
