Muscat – The sultanate has been recognised as the first among 29 of the best sunny winter destinations for 2025 by the British newspaper The Times.
The top ranking is attributed to Oman’s pleasant winter temperatures, averaging around 23°C, along with its diverse natural beauty, rich history and warm hospitality.
The newspaper described Oman as an ideal destination for enjoying the winter sun and highlighted a variety of tourist activities. Adventure seekers can explore Musandam, known for its dramatic fjords and crystal-clear waters, and enjoy diving excursions. Visitors can also experience camel rides across the rolling dunes of Sharqiyah Sands and stay in desert camps that offer an authentic glimpse into Omani culture.
Jabal Akhdar in Dakhliyah was also mentioned for its serene atmosphere, lush valleys and breathtaking mountain views. With its cool, refreshing air, the mountainous region provides a striking contrast to the surrounding desert landscapes, making it a perfect retreat for relaxation.
In Muscat, tourists can immerse themselves in Oman’s rich cultural heritage by visiting grand mosques, bustling traditional markets filled with the scent of frankincense, and scenic coastlines dotted with luxury resorts at competitive prices.
The newspaper said Oman offers a well-rounded tourism experience, blending adventure, history and relaxation under the warm winter sun. ‘The country’s unique mix of Arabian Peninsula landscapes and ancient traditions makes it an unforgettable destination for travellers seeking both cultural immersion and natural beauty.’
This recognition further consolidates Oman’s position on the global tourism map, reaffirming its appeal as a preferred winter destination for tourists worldwide.
