Khasab – In an effort to bolster sustainable luxury tourism, the Musandam Governor’s Office hosted a workshop on Tuesday, bringing together experts and specialists to chart strategies for the sector’s growth in the region.
The workshop was inaugurated by Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, who underscored the importance of enhancing the tourism experience in the governorate. Discussions focused on the role of Six Senses Zighy Bay resort in driving luxury tourism, tackling environmental challenges, and fostering strategic partnerships.
Busaidi said, “When we talk about luxury tourism, our thinking often goes directly to high-income and wealthy individuals. However, luxury lies in the quality of service provision, with a focus on creating unique experiences for guests. These experiences should connect them to the place, be in harmony with nature, and leave unforgettable impressions, rather than offering repetitive interactions.”
He also highlighted the government’s ongoing collaboration with the private sector to develop tourism-related industries. “We recognise the efforts of emerging institutions and their role in supporting this vital sector. Additionally, cruise ship owners play an important part in enriching sustainable tourism in the governorate,” he added.
The workshop concluded with a discussion on the future of Musandam’s tourism sector, where participants exchanged ideas and identified actionable steps to promote sustainable tourism.
