10 Feb 2025 New health centre boon for remote Al Hallaniyat Islands

Muscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH) on Monday inaugurated the Al Hallaniyat Health Centre in the wilayat of Shalim and Al Hallaniyat Islands in Dhofar governorate, marking a significant step in expanding the country’s healthcare services to remote areas of Oman.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality. The project, at a cost of over RO1.3mn, spans 8,000sqm, with a buildup area of 861sqm.

The centre has a wide range of healthcare services, including two general clinics for primary healthcare and medical examinations. It is equipped with a consultation and examination room, an observation room for emergency cases, radiology and sterilisation rooms, and a dental clinic.

A key feature of the centre is its maternity unit, designed to provide safe care for mothers and newborns. It also includes a maternal and child health ward to care for the health of women and children in the area.

Additional facilities include a medical laboratory, pharmacy, medicine storage rooms, reception areas, and separate waiting areas for men and women.

The opening of the Al Hallaniyat Health Centre addresses longstanding healthcare challenges faced by the local community due to the geographical isolation of the islands. Previously, residents struggled to access integrated medical services, but the new facility is expected to significantly improve healthcare access and overall quality of life.

The Ministry of Health’s initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services across the sultanate, ensuring that even the most remote areas benefit from modern medical facilities.
