Muscat – The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), under the guidance of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit, on Sunday launched a three-day workshop for members of various government entities for improving the country’s business environment through integrated economic development.
The workshop’s inauguration was attended by Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OCCI, along with several dignitaries and representatives from key government departments. The event also welcomed a distinguished group of experts, business owners, and specialists from various sectors of the economy.
According to officials, the workshop has been designed with a focus on three key areas -improvement of Oman’s business environment, supporting partnerships for holistic economic development, and broadening the base of economic diversification in the sultanate.
With the participation of 20 governmental and private entities, the workshop seeks to establish actionable mechanisms for implementing the chamber’s development strategy, alongside a series of carefully planned initiatives and projects, officials added.
Zakaria Abdullah al Saadi, CEO of OCCI, stated that the chamber’s strategic directions aim to strengthen sectoral strategies and align them with the country’s five-year development plans. He emphasised the importance of improving the business environment, forming economic partnerships, and diversifying Oman’s economy.
Saadi noted that the workshop builds on a participatory approach that OCCI embraced and has been pursing for the past 120 days, involving over 180 employees across Oman. This collaborative effort includes in-person meetings as well as periodic video calls to ensure input from all relevant sectors.
Looking ahead, Saadi expressed confidence that the workshop’s outcomes will lead the country to formulate programmes and initiatives aligned with the chamber’s strategic directions, that underline private sector’s central role in driving Oman’s economic growth.
