Muscat – Represented by College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) will host the Medical Education Conference 2025 on February 10 and 11 under the theme ‘Innovation and New Technology: Opportunities and Challenges’.

The regional event aims to serve as a platform for discussing innovative approaches, technologies and challenges in medical education.

Prof Dr Rashid bin Khalfan al Abri, Chairman of the conference and Dean of College of Medicine and Health Sciences, said, “This event is an opportunity for sharing knowledge and exploring the latest innovations in medical education.”

He expressed optimism that the event would lead to productive discussions, foster academic collaboration and enhance the quality of medical education in the region.

The conference will cover a wide range of topics, including competency-based medical education, distance and in-person learning, medical simulation with virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence in medical education, and evidence-based practices. It will also address faculty development, leadership and professional growth to equip educators with the skills needed to adapt to evolving educational demands.

Five distinguished speakers from the United States, Canada and the Netherlands will lead discussions on the role of modern technologies in transforming medical education. Participants will also explore leadership skills, professional development, and strategies to enhance educational research and collaboration within the academic community.

The event is expected to attract a diverse group of academics and healthcare professionals, including representatives from medical and nursing colleges, university hospitals, and educational institutions under Oman’s Ministry of Health and the Gulf Cooperation Council. Collaborators include the Committee of Deans of Medical Colleges in the GCC, the University Medical City, and other government and private health institutions, reflecting the regional significance of the event.

Medical Education Conference 2025 represents a key step towards preparing medical professionals in line with international standards. It underscores the importance of embracing modern technologies to advance education and improve the quality of healthcare training in the Middle East.
