Nizwa – A total of 31,306 passengers benefitted from a recently concluded public transportation service in Nizwa during its trial period from January 10 to 31.
Aimed at enhancing public transport options in Dakhliyah, the initiative was a collaborative effort between the governorate, Dakhliyah Governorate Police Command and Mwasalat.
During the 21-day trial, which took place in the evening hours, Mwasalat buses provided services within the wilayat of Nizwa.
The 60-passenger capacity buses were available for free to Omani citizens. Expatriates paid a nominal fare of 200bz.
The public transport service was part of a wider effort to improve mobility and accessibility for residents and visitors, with the strong response during the trial period suggesting the service’s potential for long-term success in Nizwa.
