Muscat – Employees in Oman are entitled to compensation if an official public holiday falls on their weekly rest day, as per Royal Decree No. 88/2022. The compensation will be provided in accordance with the decree’s provisions, ensuring workers receive fair remuneration without affecting any superior benefits already in place within their organisation.
Additionally, workers required to perform duties on their weekends or during public holidays must be compensated as per Article 72 of the Labour Law, issued under Royal Decree No. 53/2023. This regulation ensures employees receive appropriate remuneration for overtime work during such periods.
The decree aims to uphold workers’ rights while maintaining fairness in labour practices across various sectors in the Sultanate.
