Syria – A car explosion in northern Syria on Monday has killed at least 15 people, authorities said. The blast took place on a main road on the outskirts of Syria’s northern city of Manbij, the civil defense confirmed. Fourteen women and one man were killed, and fifteen other women were injured.

Most of those killed were women farm workers, state news agency SANA reported. Since the lightning rebellion which toppled the rule of Bashar Assad in December, Manbij has been the scene of clashes between Kurdish and Turkish-backed fighters.

Syria’s newly appointed President Ahmed al-Sharaa met Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in first foreign trip. Syria’s leader is in Saudi Arabia to garner support for his transitional government after the oust of Assad regime.
